REV has worked with more than 1,900 small businesses in the Birmingham community over the past five years, and we have no intention of slowing down. From Eugene’s Hot Chicken to Ghost Train Brewing to Laced Up Boutique to the freshly-rebranded 3rd Street Market, REV supports business growth with a number of initiatives designed to help entrepreneurs create, test and refine their business concepts.

BIZ 1.0: This half-day workshop is designed for starters with a great idea who don’t know where to go next.

CO.STARTERS: Create Birmingham’s 10-week program takes entrepreneurs on a deeper dive into their business plan. REV is proud to partner with Create to bring this program to Birmingham.

THE BIG PITCH: Each year since 2014, 10 startup contestants compete before a live audience and panel of judges, “Shark Tank-style,” for a chance to win prizes including cash, professional services and a chance at an investment in one or more companies. (Read more below!)

REVeal Kitchen: First opened in early 2017, our Pizitz Food Hall stall serves as a launchpad for startup restaurants to grow their business in a short-term lease while receiving technical assistance from REV.

Woodlawn Street Market: Developed in 2014, Woodlawn Street Market is an urban marketplace that provides a revenue-generating opportunity and safe environment for local entrepreneurs to test and tweak their products.

The Urban Food Project: Begun in 2012, the Urban Food Project delivers quality local produce to Birmingham restaurants and corner stores located in food deserts and offers technical assistance to its clients.

Business & Real Estate Assistance: REV also offers consulting services to its clients, including assistance ranging from business planning to marketing brainstorms as well as help finding the right physical space for their business and jumping over the development hurdles.

Since autumn of 2021, Woodlawn Marketplace has stood tall in its place at 5530 1st Ave S. Originally planned as a month-long mini market experience featuring seasoned Woodlawn Street Market vendors, the project was met with such a positive reception that the REV team decided to press on and launch a larger, more permanent version. In the months following that decision, the space has undergone a transformation, evolving into a local retail incubator and café. Now, the heart and soul of the marketplace is supporting local businesses and building community in the historic Woodlawn business district.

For as long as he can remember, Ty King, owner of Urban Vintage Clothing, has had an inclination for fashion. To him, style is more than the clothes on your back. It’s a feeling – and a really good one, if you’re intentional about expressing yourself through your attire.
That passion, combined with an unwavering entrepreneurial spirit, is what drove him to open his storefront for Urban Vintage Clothing in December of 2022.
