The City of Birmingham’s Design Review Committee has approved East Lake developer Vince Amaro’s plans to renovate the façades of two buildings he owns in the newly-renamed East Lake Station (at the 7600 block of 1st Ave North)!
One of the spaces is the new home of Maurice Miller Photography, and build-out will begin soon on the adjacent space for Organically Yours — which happens to be one of the finalists in our 2016 BIG PITCH, presented by PNC. The building will be refaced with white subway tile and black trim. New window casements will be installed along with new lighting, signage and landscaping. That’s a big change from the “before” photo below!
REV assisted in helping develop the presentation for Design Review. Kudos to architect Amanda Loper of David Baker Architects for the awesome design!

This Friday, May 20th, we will be having a (20th) Street Party (which you can read more about here) to celebrate the end of our Birmingham Green Refresh! While this certainly calls for a celebration, the party doesn’t stop there. We will still be adding some finishing touches to the street after the (20th) Street Party. These additional touches will help make Birmingham’s main street more vibrant, interactive, and efficient! Additions will include smart trash cans, free libraries, street performers, and more!
