How The Great Receipt Race incentivized shopping local
In August, November and December 2020, REV invited Birminghamians to play The Great Receipt Race for chances to win prizes and gift cards.
$44K in local purchases submitted
Great Receipt Race participants were asked to text a keyword to automatically receive easy instructions to share proof of local purchases for chances to win gift cards and items from Birmingham businesses.
- Every receipt submitted = a chance to win that week’s prize package/gift cards
- Prizes and gift cards were awarded weekly
For the Great Receipt Race, we defined a “local business” as any business within the city of Birmingham that is not nationally franchised. See the full rules ↓
In 30 seconds, REV’s City Center District Manager Rob Buddo shows how it worked!
And there are still plenty of ways #BhamNeedsYou!
The Great Receipt Race may be over, but you can always count on the importance of shopping at and lifting up Birmingham businesses.
- Shop locally, proudly
Birmingham has so many amazing businesses that make this city feel authentic—like an experience that you couldn’t get in just any other city. The survival of those businesses depends on your dollars!
- Spread the love for local on social media
Share photos of your supporting–local adventures, encourage your friends to shop local too, leave positive online reviews for your favorite businesses, and generally be a yaysayer for Birmingham (#YayBham)!
