Local historic district street sign toppers to debut in Five Points South

The new sign toppers will allow motorists, cyclists and pedestrians to easily identify whether they’re in the Anderson Place, Cullom Street, Cobb Lane or Phelan Park district – and enhance the sense of pride that comes with living or working in a historic district.

Community members clean up Five Points West for upcoming Neighborhoods USA Tour

The Five Points West community, in partnership with the Five Points West/Crossplex Alliance, held its first major community clean-up on Saturday, April 28 in preparation for the Neighborhoods USA (NUSA) Tour coming to the community in May. Approximately 200 volunteers participated in the clean-up that took place across the six neighborhoods in Five Points West.

Five Points West Crossplex Alliance teams up to tackle litter problem

Five Points West business owners proved the power of collective action by solving a longstanding community problem. A business member of the Five Points West Crossplex Alliance had a persisting problem with litter being dumped between her property and the liquor store. The business owner’s repeated complaints to the liquor store managers yielded no resolution, so the Alliance took the problem head on.

Birmingham Lights set to change colors for National Donate Life Month

Independent Presbyterian Church and City Meats: Feeding body and soul

Independent Presbyterian Church has served the needs of the Birmingham community for nearly 30 years through their food pantry program. The ministry has recently grown to fill even more community needs through a food voucher partnership with Woodlawn’s City Meats and Vegetables, a corner store in REV’s Urban Food Project network.

Don’t you think the world could use a few more rainbows? Lucky for St. Petersburg, neighborhood revitalization agency Deuces Live has created an artistic LED lighting installation inspired in part by REV’s Birmingham Lights project on 14th, 18th, 19th and 20th streets downtown.
