How The Great Receipt Race incentivized shopping local

In August, November and December 2020, REV invited Birminghamians to play The Great Receipt Race for chances to win prizes and gift cards.

$44K in local purchases submitted

Great Receipt Race participants were asked to text a keyword to automatically receive easy instructions to share proof of local purchases for chances to win gift cards and items from Birmingham businesses.

  • Every receipt submitted = a chance to win that week’s prize package/gift cards
  • Prizes and gift cards were awarded weekly

For the Great Receipt Race, we defined a “local business” as any business within the city of Birmingham that is not nationally franchised. See the full rules ↓
